Lisa Flynn
"A few years ago, I noticed that when my two
very young children would join my morning yoga practice, it was not only
fun for them, but seemed to improve their focus and mood as well. While
researching yoga for babies, toddlers and older children, I quickly
realized that the benefits of yoga can be enjoyed by people of all ages, 3
weeks old to 100+. I attended my first training with
Marsha Metzger
and immediately started teaching. I was hooked. The children teach
me much more than I teach them! I am so grateful."
In addition to founding ChildLight Yoga, LLC in 2005, Lisa also assisted
Dover Yoga Studio (Dover, NH) in opening
a brand new studio dedicated to children and teens - now the home of
ChildLight Yoga. Lisa has over 150 hours of training in yoga for children.
She holds an advanced-level certification from
Color Me Yoga 'for Children® and is also
a Certified
Itsy Bitsy Yoga®
Facilitator (CIBYF), Certified
YogaEd.™
Instructor and
Circus Yoga
Teacher. She has also studied with Craig Hanauer of
Every Kids Yoga.
Lisa is certified in Adult/Infant/Child CPR. She is also a Reiki
Practitioner and incorporates her knowledge of chakras, energy centers in
the body, in her work with children and families. Though she has little
interest in teaching yoga to adults ("they're not as much fun!"), Lisa
continues her personal study of yoga and yoga philosophy with Julie Rost
of the
YogaLife Institute
as she works towards earning a 200 hr. adult yoga certification in
2008. She blends many teaching methods together with additional
inspiration drawn from the
YogaKids®,
Radiant Child
and
Next Generation Yoga®
programs.
Most importantly, Lisa is Mommy to two beautiful yoginis, and wife to a
wonderful and supportive husband. As with most families, their lives are
busy, sometimes outright hectic. Work, her children's activities, and even
just keeping the house clean can become stressful at times. She uses yoga,
meditation, and power of positive thought to bring balance into her life.
Her goal is to teach her young students to do the same, providing them
with tools they can use for a lifetime of health and wellness.
With a B.A. in Communication, Lisa spent over 10 years working in the
fields of Marketing, Advertising and Business Management in Atlanta,
Chicago and Portsmouth. She is extremely grateful to be able to combine
the knowledge gained from her past work experience with her love of yoga
and children.
